Hartford Union High School is seeking a full-time innovative, student-focused Associate Principal/Assistant Athletic Director commencing with the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Qualities and Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
  • One to three years related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Google docs.

Licensing

  • Required 5051 Principal.

Valid and in good standing WI driver's license.

The Assistant Principal/Assistant Athletic Director supports the leadership of the Principal in the school and manages the day-to-day operations of the school, including student discipline and attendance issues, school safety, and school climate. He/she also assists the Athletic Director with co-curricular programs (athletics and activities) of the District in all respects. He/she provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to develop each student, coach, and advisor to his/her capacity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget

  • Assist in developing, submitting, implementing, and monitoring the co-curricular budget for the high school.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic and Activities Director in establishing both annual and long-range planning for co-curricular budget-related items, e.g., facilities, equipment, uniforms, speakers, coach/advisor professional development, contracts, etc.
  • Monitor the requisition and approval process for purchasing of co-curricular program supplies, apparel, and equipment.

Leadership and Management

  • Ensure the District; the co-curricular program; students, coaches, and advisors, budget, practices and procedures, etc., are in compliance with state statutes, the regulations of the Department of Public Instruction, the Rules and regulations of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, and Board policies.
  • Assist the Athletic and Activities Director with the overall operations for the co-curricular programs.
  • Manage, with the Athletic and Activities Director, all co-curricular home events for safety and efficient operations, including but not limited to scheduling, ticket sales, workers, employment of officials and internal and external security.
  • Assist in the yearly revision of the student co-curricular Code of Conduct and Coach and Advisor Handbook.
  • Enforce the student co-curricular Code of Conduct and Coach and Advisor Handbook.
  • Enforce academic eligibility requirements for athletics and co-curricular activities.
  • Coordinate various co-curricular and school events, e.g., annual homecoming week.
  • Support the Athletic Director in maintaining records for athletic contests and athletic award winners.
  • Communicate athletic and activities information with various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with others on various mental and overall well-being initiatives.
  • Develop proactive student behavior strategies in collaboration with high school administration and other staff members.
  • Lead student re-entry and attendance meetings that include appropriate personnel.
  • Develop personalized supports for students to be successful and change negative behavior
  • Assist with attendance concerns and creating proactive attendance measures.
  • Collaborate with high school administrators on improving processes and procedures with school operations, such as, but not limited to, student discipline.
  • Provide student supervision and enforce student behavioral expectations.
  • Assist the Principal in overall operations and safety of the school
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Leadership Team and other school personnel on work around, but not limited to, student achievement, professional development, instructional practices, district strategic planning, educator effectiveness, and student supports.
  • Address and resolve student, staff, parent/guardian, and community concerns relative to school matters.
  • Serve on leadership teams, councils, and committees as appropriate.
  • Seek and engage in professional development opportunities for self as well as those they supervise.
  • Lead initiatives around increasing student engagement in co-curricular activities and improving student experiences.
  • Model and ensure an environment of respect amongst stakeholders at co-curricular events and promote sportsmanship.
  • Work with caseworkers, special education personnel, and/or Director of Student Services when students with IEPs are involved in major discipline situations (e.g. potential expulsion).
  • Attend and actively engage with stakeholders in academic, co-curricular, and community events/activities.
  • Serve as the main administrator in leading summer school programming.
  • Assist with utilizing and creating data reports that are useful in, but not limited to, increasing student academic growth, promoting data-driven decision making, and meeting various school and/or District goals.
  • Collaborate with high school leadership to develop and implement regular, appropriate, and timely academic and co-curricular recognition programs.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff, as assigned, and effectively address performance issues.
  • Ensure athletic coaches are in compliance with CPR and First Aid Certifications
