Assistant Plant ControllerA growing, privately held manufacturing organization is seeking an Assistant Plant Controller to support financial operations across multiple production facilities. This is a high-impact, hands-on role that blends accounting, cost analysis, and operational finance, partnering closely with plant leadership to drive performance and improve decision-making. This position is designed as a developmental opportunity, with a clear path to advance into a Plant Controller role within the next 2-4 years.Job DescriptionPerform detailed margin analysis across products and key customer segmentsAnalyze production costs, standard costing, and manufacturing variancesPartner with operations to review and update standard costs (labor, materials, scrap, freight, etc.)Conduct financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-makingMonitor and report on inventory levels, obsolescence, and slow-moving itemsInvestigate inventory variances and collaborate with plant teams for resolutionAnalyze purchase price variances and cost fluctuationsProvide weekly production and labor performance metricsPrepare flash reporting to give timely visibility into plant performance between monthly closesSupport continuous improvement initiatives through ROI analysis and trackingAssist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliationsSupport preparation of monthly financial statements and reporting packagesCollaborate on annual audit activitiesParticipate in the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cyclesSupport Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processesPartner with plant leadership to align financial and operational goalsWork closely with plant leadership, operations, supply chain, and finance teamsSupport special projects and ad hoc financial analysisMPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
