Job Summary: The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates for a 12-month faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Communication Disorders Program in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University beginning September 1, 2026.

Mercy University is seeking candidates for a full-time, multiple year track assistant or associate professor position in the Communication Disorders Program. Faculty are encouraged to participate in professional development activities. Faculty are responsible for curriculum development, delivery, and evaluation in both didactic and clinical components of the program, student advising, developing collaborative opportunities with community partners, and contributing to interprofessional education within the School and University. Faculty play a prominent role in the programs ongoing self-study process. This position includes an expectation of serving on University, School and Program committees and participating in scholarly activities.

Communication Disorders Program faculty members are required to supervise in the on-campus Speech and Hearing Center. Candidates with teaching experience should be familiar with the innovative use of technology in the classroom. Candidates must have a commitment to working in a multicultural setting.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively as a member of a dynamic team in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Prior teaching experience in a Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology Program.
  • Innovative use of educational technology.
  • Experience as a clinically practicing SLP. Minimum of 3 years preferred.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP certification and licensure or eligibility for SLP licensure in New York State.
  • Earned Doctoral Degree (PhD or EdD) in SLP or a related field. ABD may be considered.
  • Experience in medical speech-language pathology clinical practice (preferred adult populations) and experience teaching at the graduate level in a speech-language pathology program.
  • Experience teaching a diverse student body and supporting inclusive teaching and learning initiatives.

Specific courses will be discussed at interview.

Education Requirements:

  • Earned Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in SLP or a related field. ABD may be considered.
  • Eligibility for New York SLP licensure.
  • Earned CCC-SLP licensure.

Physical/Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.
