Position Overview

United Health Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to support the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) at Binghamton General Hospital. In this high-impact leadership role, you will help lead a fast-paced behavioral health emergency setting focused on psychiatric triage, crisis stabilization, and short-term observation for individuals in acute mental health crisis.

As a key partner to the Nurse Manager and Emergency Department team, the ANM supports daily operations, mentors nursing staff, and fosters a safe, therapeutic, and collaborative environment. This role is ideal for a nurse leader passionate about behavioral health, who thrives in a dynamic setting and is driven to improve patient outcomes, support staff growth, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients during critical moments.

Compensation Range:

$49.24 - $73.86 per hour, depending on experience

Up to $25,000 sign-on bonus for candidates who meet eligibility requirements.

Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week

  • Day shift

Required Functions:

  • Assists Nurse Manager in oversite of unit level onboarding, annual credentialling and quality outcomes

  • Assists nurse manager with regulatory readiness.

  • Provides supervision to direct reports as assigned by Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing. 

  • Completes annual performance appraisals establishing individual development goals.

  • Acts as a change advocate, guiding staff through necessary transitions to foster acceptance and adaptation in collaboration with department Nurse Manages.

  • Champions new initiatives, adoptions of best practices, and new processes at the unit and organizational level.

  • Adds to the professional growth of the department of nursing at UHS by participating in professional governance model at the unit and organizational level.

  • Provides leadership support for off shifts as designated by Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing ensuring cross-over hours between all shifts.

  • Mentors staff in development of conflict resolution skills fostering a culture of professional communications.

  • Assists Nurse Manager in development of care delivery models to deliver safe patient care that is evidence based, accessible, and equitable.

  • Supports the Nurse Manager in alignment with department level outcomes that align with organization goals.

  • Provides feedback and opportunities for others to learn from both formally and informally in partnership with the Nurse Manager.

  • Encourages staff professional development through ongoing education and certification.

  • Supports, promotes and role models standards for nursing and leadership professional practice.

  • Contributes to the advancement of the profession through involvement in professional organizations at the local, regional or national level.

Education and Experience

Minimum Required

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing
  • Up to three (3) years of Nursing experience
  • Up to three (3) years of directly related experience

Preferred

  • Masters in Nursing

License and/or Certification

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License
