The Assistant Middle School Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the basketball program while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and student-athlete development. The assistant coach will help create a positive and competitive environment that supports the academic and athletic success of all student-athletes.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices and games
- Help teach basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and skill development
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities
- Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and character among players
- Assist with organizing equipment, uniforms, and inventory
- Support communication with players, parents, school staff, and administration
- Help monitor student-athlete academic progress and behavior
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and athletic conference rules and policies
- Assist with game preparation, scouting, and player evaluations
- Attend coaches' meetings, trainings, and school athletic events as requested
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for all student-athletes
Qualifications
- Previous basketball coaching and/or playing experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively with middle school students
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and game management
- Must meet all district and state coaching requirements, including background checks and certifications

Terms of Employment
- Seasonal position
- Stipend based on district salary schedule and experience
- Reports directly to the Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director
