Position Title Assistant Mens/Womens Tennis Coach FLSA Classification EX Reports to Head Coach Salary Range 99 Weeks Per Year 52 Work Week 40 hours (minimum) Position Summary

Assumes responsibility for assisting in the management and administration of all phases of a competitive NCAA Division III sports program in compliance with the philosophies and objectives of the Head Coach as well as the Department of Athletics, The University of Hartford, and the NCAA. Assumes responsibility for adherence to the rules and regulations governing University, conference affiliations and the NCAA, including assisting in the education process extended to faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and the community when appropriate Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Hiring Range $40,000 starting salary

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in the recruitment and selection of student-athletes. Assists with the verification of eligibility of student-athletes. Coordinates home and campus visits, builds recruiting networks and organizes mailings and observation schedules for prospective student-athletes.
  • Assists the Head Coach in the preparation of practice sessions and game strategies.
  • Assists in supporting the NCAA compliance approved academic counselling of student-athletes and monitoring of their academic progress and eligibility status. Promotes academic progress of student-athletes. Coordinates study halls and tutorial programs.
  • Enforces all policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics and University in addition to supporting a culture of compliance through the rules and regulations of the NCAA, the conference and any other authorities that affect the intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Works closely with the Department of Athletics Administration within applicable NCAA bylaws to raise funds and promote interest in the program throughout the University community as well as the Greater Hartford community. Participates in proactive fundraising events for broad athletic activities.
  • Assists in the scouting of opponents.
  • Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with various internal constituents. Acts as a liaison for the Department of Athletics, working closely with the Head Coach to coordinate activities between the department and other campus units.
  • Participates in clinics and other professional enrichment programs to assure professional development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
