Job Summary

The assistant coach is responsible for assisting with various coaching, management, and administrative duties of the Men's & Women's Track & Field program as assigned by the Head Coach with specific emphasis on sprints and hurdles. The assistant coach is responsible for conducting any duties or activities with integrity and within the rules of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), the Missouri Valley Conference and/or Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVC or MVFC), the State of Illinois, Illinois State University, and the Athletics Department.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$45,000 - $60,000 Annual Salary

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree

  2. Proven ability to teach and coach fundamentals and advanced skills specific to sprints and hurdles

  3. Advanced knowledge of techniques and strategies

  4. Proven organizational and leadership ability

  5. Competitive athletic experience, preferably in Division I intercollegiate athletics

  6. Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree

Work Hours

Office hours 8-4:30; varies with training/competition schedule. Occasional evenings and weekends.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods

  2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work

  3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
