Job Description
Sage Veterinary Centers in Dublin, California, is seeking an Assistant Medical Director to help manage their growing team!
The Assistant Medical Director's primary responsibility is to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate, and comprehensive veterinary care to our patients, while maintaining a positive, professional, and supportive work environment for the veterinary team. The Assistant Medical Director is responsible for upholding the mission, vision, and values of the organization within the hospital. The Assistant Medical Director works in close partnership with the medical director, hospital director, and leadership team to ensure the hospital's success by assisting as a medical subject matter expert, assisting to oversee the entire medical team, and driving operational excellence.
Compensation: $25,000/year
Approximate hourly commitment: 4-6 hours/week.
Time off clinics: no more than half a day per week spread across multiple non-consecutive days off the clinic floor to perform duties.
Core Job Duties: Medical and Service Quality
Team Development
Partners with the Hospital Director (HD), Medical Director (MD), nursing and clinical service leads to develop a team-oriented approach to patient care
Partners with HD, MD, and talent acquisition to recruit and retain high quality Veterinarians who contribute to positive culture.
Contribute feedback during annual performance evaluations of doctors and/or quarterly check-ins with DVMs.
Partners with the MD and HD in managing concerns regarding DVM performance or professionalism - Supports provision of internal and external medical educational opportunities for doctors, including mentorship and development plans for newly hired veterinarians.
Holds self and DVMs accountable to positive behavior required to drive a collaborative and psychologically safe culture.
Provides clinical mentoring and coaching to DVMs and technical staff as needed.
