Job Summary
The Assistant Manager assists in the oversight of gym operations to ensure a welcoming and positive experience for members, guests, and prospects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Help maintain a welcoming atmosphere
- Oversee member service
- Support and assist the General Manager
- Assist with staff management
- Recruit, onboard, train, and develop staff
- Provide coverage during absences
- Resolve or escalate employee issues or concerns
- Employee discipline, retraining, or offboarding
- Assist in inventory, supplies, and reporting
- Informed on marketing campaigns, promotions, and offers
- Involved in all front desk operations
- Greet members, guests, and prospects
- Respond to member questions and concerns
- Answer phones promptly
- Check in members and update accounts
- Facilitate new member sign-ups and conduct tours
- Assist with cleaning and organizing the club
Qualifications and Requirements
- Superior customer service skills
- Leadership experience is a plus
- Basic computer proficiency
- Passionate about fitness and health
- Positive and interpersonal
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Ability to resolve issues effectively
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Schedule Requirements
- Schedule must fit the needs of the club
- Must work full-time hours
Physical Demands
- Remain standing or walking for extended periods
- Frequent communication, in-person and via phone
- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Handle cleaning chemicals or biohazards safely
