CONTACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS

Extensive interaction with Plan participants, attorneys, business managers, other representatives of the participants, and the Plans’ attorneys, actuary and Trustees. There is also interaction with outside benefits consultants and the Plan’s various department managers and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with the Pension Department to ensure compliance with all ERISA, IRS, DOL, and other Regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics and dashboards to monitor team productivity, system performance, and project outcomes.
  • Ensure proper scheduling of staff and coverage, ensure delivery of excellent participant services by providing guidance, training and/or development of staff.
  • Provide timely performance feedback and guidance to staff, ensure adherence to Plans’ policies, write and deliver timely performance evaluations and corrective action as required.
  • Facilitate process improvement projects, including creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and administration of training.
  • Oversee monthly product management cycles for V3 pension system, ensuring timely and accurate implementation of system enhancements and fixes.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of qualified defined benefit and defined contribution plans, especially Taft-Hartley plans, ERISA and pension laws and regulations, and IRS and DOL reporting requirements and regulations is preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team of Pension Administrators and Pension Analysts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with participants, management, staff, benefits consultants, and the Board of Trustees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree in accounting, business, or math. Three to five years combined pension administration and supervisory experience is preferred. (Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Plans, Taft-Hartley Plans a plus). Knowledge of Microsoft Word, & Excel. (Intermediate to Advanced preferred). CEBS or RPA (pension professional designation) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Possess manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines.
