Description of Work
SALARY RANGE: $62,771.00 - $101,849.00
The North Carolina Supreme Court Library seeks a qualified Assistant Librarian to manage the technical services duties for the library which include creating bibliographic records, maintaining financial and statistical records, and supporting all library functions.

This position reports to the Supreme Court Librarian and work hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/ Competencies
Knowledge of: Cataloging standards and rules that follow MARC format, AACR2, RDA, LCRI, and LCSH.
Skill in: Microsoft Office; management and supervisory techniques; the operation and maintenance of library facilities and related office equipment.
Ability to: Use standard library methods and principles in the assigned library functional areas; compile data for statistical records; learn specific software programs including proprietary database and office software; follow complex rules for descriptive cataloging; assign subject headings and classification numbers; follow procedures and specific instructions and guidelines for filing purposes; effectively communicate orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; utilize information and communication technology in the library.

Minimum Education and Experience

Master's degree in library and information science (MLIS) or master's degree in library science (MLS) from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited college or university plus two (2) years of library experience in technical services
or
a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited school plus one (1) year of work experience in law librarianship, law, or as a judge's clerk
Management prefers candidates with a JD to be enrolled in an MLS program or demonstrate a strong interest in librarianship.
