    Description

    Position Summary

    The Assistant D.U.G. Manager supports the D.U.G. Manager in overseeing all aspects of the Drive Up & Go operation. This position helps ensure exceptional customer service, order accuracy, on-time fulfillment, and efficient department operations. The Assistant D.U.G. Manager assists with supervising associates, managing labor and productivity, maintaining performance standards, and supporting sales growth through online grocery fulfillment services.

    Key Responsibilities Department Operations

    • Assist in overseeing daily Drive Up & Go operations.
    • Ensure customer orders are accurately selected, staged, and delivered within established service standards.
    • Monitor order fulfillment processes to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
    • Assist with labor planning, scheduling, and workload distribution.
    • Ensure department equipment, handheld devices, and operational tools are properly maintained.
    • Support execution of company programs, promotions, and digital initiatives.

    Customer Service

    • Deliver exceptional customer service through timely and accurate order fulfillment.
    • Assist customers with order pickups, substitutions, and service-related questions.
    • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Promote customer satisfaction and loyalty through service excellence.
    • Support efforts to improve customer experience scores and operational performance.

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Assist with training, coaching, and developing D.U.G. associates.
    • Monitor associate productivity and adherence to operational standards.
    • Help create a positive, inclusive, and customer-focused work environment.
    • Provide direction and leadership during daily operations.
    • Assume department leadership responsibilities in the absence of the D.U.G. Manager.

    Inventory & Order Fulfillment

    • Ensure proper product selection and handling procedures are followed.
    • Monitor product availability and communicate out-of-stock conditions appropriately.
    • Assist with managing substitutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Support inventory accuracy through proper procedures and communication with store departments.
    • Ensure staging areas remain organized and efficient.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Follow and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
    • Monitor proper handling of refrigerated, frozen, and sensitive items.
    • Support compliance with company operational and regulatory requirements.

    Financial Performance

    • Support department productivity, labor, and performance goals.
    • Assist in controlling operational costs and minimizing order-related errors.
    • Monitor key performance indicators and support continuous improvement efforts.
    • Help drive online sales growth through exceptional execution and customer service.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Previous grocery, retail, e-commerce, or customer service experience required.
    • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
    • Strong customer service and communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Basic computer and handheld technology proficiency.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
    • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Ability to push carts and transport customer orders throughout the store and pickup areas.
    • Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
