    Position Summary

    The Assistant D.U.G. (Drive Up & Go) Manager supports the D.U.G. Manager in overseeing all aspects of the online grocery pickup operation. This position is responsible for helping ensure exceptional customer service, order fulfillment accuracy, operational efficiency, associate development, and achievement of department performance goals. The Assistant D.U.G. Manager plays a key role in delivering a seamless online shopping experience while maintaining company standards and productivity expectations.

    Key Responsibilities Department Operations

    • Assist in managing the daily operations of the Drive Up & Go department.
    • Support efficient order fulfillment, staging, and customer pickup processes.
    • Monitor order volume and staffing needs to ensure service levels are achieved.
    • Ensure all online orders are accurately selected, packed, and prepared on time.
    • Maintain department organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
    • Support implementation of company programs, initiatives, and operational procedures.

    Customer Service

    • Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure a positive online shopping experience.
    • Assist customers with order questions, substitutions, pickups, and issue resolution.
    • Address customer concerns professionally and in a timely manner.
    • Promote a customer-first culture among all department associates.
    • Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and identify improvement opportunities.

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of department associates.
    • Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to team members.
    • Help establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
    • Foster teamwork, engagement, and a positive work environment.
    • Lead by example through professionalism, dependability, and strong customer service.

    Order Fulfillment & Quality

    • Ensure accurate item selection and proper handling of customer orders.
    • Monitor substitution practices to meet customer expectations and company guidelines.
    • Verify orders are staged and delivered according to established procedures.
    • Ensure perishable products are handled and stored according to food safety standards.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and order accuracy.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and workplace safety standards.
    • Promote safe work practices when handling products and operating equipment.
    • Maintain compliance with all operational and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist with department audits, evaluations, and corrective action plans.

    Financial Performance

    • Support achievement of department sales, labor, productivity, and customer satisfaction goals.
    • Monitor productivity metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Assist with scheduling and labor management to support operational needs.
    • Help reduce shrink and operational inefficiencies through proper processes and controls.
    • Review department performance reports and assist with action planning.

    Qualifications Preferred Experience

    • Previous grocery retail, e-commerce, customer service, or fulfillment experience preferred.
    • Prior supervisory, lead, or management experience preferred.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting.
    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors during customer pickup activities.
    • Ability to safely operate carts, pallet jacks, and department equipment.

    Work Environment

    • Fast-paced retail grocery environment.

    • Exposure to varying weather conditions during customer pickup operations.
    • Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
