Position: Assistant High School Wrestling Coach

Season: Winter 2025-26 (November 2025 - March 2026)

Location: Horace Mann High School / School District of North Fond du Lac

The School District of North Fond du Lac is seeking an energetic and dedicated individual for the position of Assistant High School Wrestling Coach. This position will begin in November and conclude in March 2027. Practices are typically held after school, with competitions scheduled on evenings and select weekends.

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, support, and assist in running a competitive high school wrestling program.

  • Previous wrestling coaching or competitive experience preferred, with a strong understanding of wrestling fundamentals, strategy, and athlete safety.

  • Proven ability to work effectively with high school student-athletes while modeling positive character, leadership, and sportsmanship.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, teamwork, and collaboration within the wrestling staff and athletic department.

Special Considerations

  • Variable schedule to accommodate practices, dual meets, tournaments, and postseason events.

Position Summary

To assist the Head Wrestling Coach in implementing a comprehensive, education-based wrestling program that emphasizes technical development, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Assistant Coach will help prepare athletes for competition, support their personal growth, and promote a positive and safe wrestling environment.

Essential Duties

  • Knows and implements all District and School Athletic Policies and procedures for a high school sports program.

  • Knows, interprets, and consistently applies WIAA wrestling regulations.

  • Assists in planning and conducting practices focused on fundamentals, conditioning, and skill development.

  • Provides individualized coaching, instruction, and feedback to wrestlers across weight classes.

  • Supports the Head Coach with lineup preparation, meet management, and coordination of practice and competition logistics.

  • Promotes proper safety, conditioning, and nutrition awareness for wrestlers.

  • Helps supervise student-athletes at practices, competitions, and team functions.

  • Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, and staff about expectations, schedules, and team goals.

  • Encourages academic success and models positive citizenship, leadership, and sportsmanship.

  • Assists with equipment management, uniform care, and facility setup/cleanup.

  • Attends meetings, tournaments, and staff development opportunities as directed by the Head Coach or Activities Director.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Activities Director.
