Assistant General Manager

Savannah College of Art and Design is seeking a hospitality-driven Assistant General Manager to support the daily operations of a high-volume dining program serving the SCAD community. This leader will play a key role in delivering exceptional food quality,operational excellence, and outstanding guest experiences while supporting and developing a strong team culture.

The ideal candidate is an organized and service-focused leader with food service management experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day management of dining and food service operations within a high-volume campus environment
  • Lead, coach, and develop hourly associates while promoting a positive and collaborative team culture
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness, safety, and guest service are consistently maintained
  • Assist in managing scheduling, ordering, inventory, labor, purchasing, and operational costs to support financial goals and budget expectations
  • Build strong relationships with students, guests, client partners, and campus stakeholders through exceptional hospitality
  • Help oversee onboarding, training, and daily operational execution
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
  • Support special events, campus programs, and operational initiatives as needed
  • Collaborate with culinary and operational leadership to enhance the overall dining experience

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of food service management or hospitality leadership experience
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, higher education, healthcare, coffee shops, retail dining, or related hospitality environments preferred
  • Experience with scheduling, ordering, inventory management, and daily operational oversight
  • Strong operational leadership and team development skills
  • Financial acumen and ability to support budget management initiatives
  • Passion for hospitality, food quality, and customer service excellence
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • ServSafe Certification preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Associate degree preferred
