Job Description


The Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Environmental Services (EVS) directs a wide variety of housekeeping and janitorial services required in a client servicing operation and assigns teams members in such activities. The AGM will oversee day-to-day EVS operations at the Maniilaq Health Association in Kotzebue, AK. Evening, holiday, and weekend hours are required.

Responsibilities


+ Direct, schedule, supervise, and motivate assigned EVS staff to ensure all tasks and quality standards are consistently met.

+ Manage administrative Human Resources (HR) responsibilities, including approving payroll, supporting hiring, evaluating performance, and assuming departmental leadership in the absence of the General Manager.

+ Establish work procedures and quality standards for the team.

+ Conduct regular training sessions for both new and existing staff, ensuring they are well-versed in procedures, equipment use, and quality expectations.

+ Conduct regular facility inspections and prepare daily inspection reports to maintain the highest quality of service.

+ Maintain strong, proactive communication with hospital staff and clients.

+ Track, control, and order supply inventories, managing related billings and payables.

+ Oversee the operation, care, and maintenance of all custodial equipment and vehicles.

+ Conduct safety meetings and ensure all daily operations strictly follow company safety requirements.

+ Identify, resolve, and report site safety hazards.

+ Maintain working knowledge of industrial cleaning products, chemicals, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

+ Complete any required accounting, safety, and administrative record-keeping.

+ Actively perform and supervise hands-on custodial tasks (e.g., trash/recycling removal, event setup/teardown) and step in to cover staff duties when circumstances require.

+ Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.


Qualifications


+ High school diploma or GED equivalent.

+ Minimum two (2) years of directly related Assistant General Manager EVS experience in healthcare, senior living, hospitality or related field.

+ Basic skillset in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

+ Must have intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

+ A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy

+ Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English


Background Requirement:

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements


Weather: Occasional exposure to harsh weather conditions; requires work be done both inside and outside.


Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


Description of environment: Hospital setting. Pace of work is medium and high volume of customer interaction.


Physical requirements: Employee is required to frequently lift up to 50lbs. This position is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.


Travel: This position requires travel up to 25% of the time. Employee may travel to remote areas and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
