    About the Role

    The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel with a strong commercial and legal background to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading legal strategy and providing hands-on support across the full project lifecycle, from origination to asset management. This includes structuring and negotiating key project agreements, providing senior legal oversight on permitting and environmental matters, and advising on commercial arrangements with various stakeholders. The role also involves direct legal due diligence for project and portfolio transactions, as well as serving as the primary legal contact for lenders, investors, and counterparties. The ideal candidate will have a JD from an accredited U.S. law school, an active license in good standing, and at least 15 years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on energy project development and commercial transactions.Applicants for the Assistant General Counsel position at the company should have a deep working knowledge of the legal and regulatory issues relevant to utility-scale energy storage projects. This includes experience with BESS projects in various market regions and a strong background in permitting, environmental review, land use, interconnection, and real estate matters. The role requires a strategic and commercially minded individual with the ability to lead legal workstreams, manage cross-functional projects, and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders. Proficiency in legal technology and contract management tools is essential, as is the ability to mentor junior team members and manage outside counsel engagements.
