Summary
Leads and assists in the work of a small crew in maintaining facilities and landscaped areas of the cemetery.
Essential Functions
- Lead and assist in the work of a small crew maintaining cemetery grounds;
- Assist Cemetery Foreman in planning work to be done, maintain time and work records;
- Lead and participate in locating, marking, and preparing gravesites for funeral, providing amenities, and closing gravesite;
- Lead and participate in maintenance of cemetery grounds, and maintenance and repair of irrigation system;
- Assist in inspecting cemetery grounds for necessary maintenance or repairs;
- Assist in employee selection, evaluation, and disciplinary actions;
- Supervise work crew in the absence of the Cemetery Foreman;
- Perform related duties as directed.
Qualifications
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one to three years of experience in the maintenance of a cemetery; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Physical Exam Required
Valid Current Commercial Drivers License
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Landscape and ground maintenance practices;
- Use of construction equipment for landscape maintenance and excavation.
Ability to:
- Operate various pieces of grounds maintenance or construction equipment;
- Maintain accurate records;
- Understand maps and blueprints;
- Communicate effectively with others;
- Lead the work of others.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand and walk during the shift.
- Occasionally bend and kneel during the shift.
- Frequently lift up to 100 pounds.
- Occasionally carry up to 100 pounds.
- Frequently push and pull objects.
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees.
- Frequently rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing.
- Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height.
- Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
