ASSISTANT ATHLETIC COACH\n \n(to include Cheerleading)\n \nUnder general supervision, assist the board in the fair and just discharge of its obligation to students and staff through the performance of the Assistant Coach role. Reports to the head coach, school principal, and athletic director.\n \nSPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n \nThorough knowledge of all the Athletic Policies approved by the Granville County Public Schools Board of Education and is responsible for its implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.\n \nKnowledge of existing school system, state, and conference regulations; implements them consistently and interprets them for staff.\n \nUnderstand the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests of grievances through proper channels. Awareness of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.\n \nTeach the established fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques as established by the head coach.\n \nAttend clinics as required according to local policy.\n \nMaintain discipline and follow all guidelines set forth by the head coach, school, and district.\n \nAssist in providing transportation.\n \nAssist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sports events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times. \n \nGive constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct.\n \nPresence at all practices and games. Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.\n \nEnforce discipline, delineate procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary, and contact the head coach immediately in the event of an infraction.\n \nPermit the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.\n \nExamine locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on the general cleanliness of the facility. Aid in cleanliness and maintenance of specific sports equipment.\n \nInstill in each player respect for equipment and school property, its care, and proper use.\n \nAid in maintaining good public relations with parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.\n \nPerform other duties as assigned by the head coach in keeping with Granville County Board of Education Policy and North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes.\n \nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES \n \nMust possess administrative and organizational skills in addition to a thorough knowledge of Granville County Public Schools athletic policy and procedure as well as the North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community. Must possess or be able to obtain a commercial driver's license with P and S endorsements and drive a school bus.\n \nMINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE\n \nAs applicable, must meet requirements established by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the Granville County Board of Education, and the school administration.
