Our client is a premier mechanical and plumbing contracting firm dedicated to high-quality craftsmanship, competitive compensation, and community-focused service. If you are looking to master your craft and be part of a collaborative, high-performing team, we encourage you to apply.

This role works closely with Lead Estimators to analyze project blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare accurate time, cost, material, and labor estimates for upcoming projects. The ideal candidate is detail oriented and brings foundational knowledge of plumbing trade practices, building codes, and mechanical systems, combined with strong communication skills and the agility to adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Takeoffs & Cost Analysis: Assist in analyzing architectural blueprints, technical specifications, and project documents; perform onscreen takeoffs to establish itemized equipment, fixture, material, and labor lists.

  • Database & Historical Tracking: Support the organization and maintenance of a cost-estimating database, utilizing historical job data to refine future bids and track cost trends over time.

  • Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Consult with clients, suppliers, equipment vendors, and trade subcontractors to gather pricing, formulate estimates, and clarify scopes of work.

  • Budget Hand-Off: Partner with project management teams to explain estimate methodology and assist in converting winning bids into operational project budgets.

  • Post-Project Audits: Assist in comparing estimated project costs against actual closeout costs to identify variances and support ongoing cost-reduction and process-improvement efforts.

  • Site Visits: Attend pre-bid meetings and active job site walkthroughs as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field OR 1 2 years of relevant field/estimating experience; or an equivalent combination of education and trade experience.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC experience is a plus).

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing codes and NFPA standards.

Software & Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Digital Onscreen Takeoff / Estimating Software (e.g., Quickpen, Trimble, or equivalent platforms).

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Valid Driver's License.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment with changing project priorities and tight bid deadlines.

Physical Demands & Site Conditions

  • Office & Computer Work: Regular sitting, typing, and mouse/software navigation.
