Job Description

As an Assistant Engineer at Olsson, you will support a variety of routine engineering tasks that enhance your technical knowledge and familiarity with industry practices, tools, and team collaboration. This entry-level role contributes to the development of purposeful, high-quality design solutions that address real-world engineering challenges, particularly in the railroad sector.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with project design elements using standard techniques and established methods. • Perform entry-level plan production with clearly defined instructions. • Gain experience working within design and modeling software. • Support senior staff with project schedules and technical engineering calculations. • Contribute to limited portions of broader projects under direct supervision. • Gather and prepare research for technical reports. • Provide mentoring to student interns by answering questions and guiding routine assignments.

Travel and work in various terrain and weather conditions at project sites in different construction stages.

Qualifications

You bring to the team:

• Strong communication skills • Ability to contribute and work well on a team • Bachelor's degree in engineering • Must possess or obtain Engineer Intern certificate (EI) • Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail • Survey and/or structure design background preferred • Experience in MicroStation, Risa 3D analysis, and Bluebeam Revu preferred
