Description
The Department of Transportation and Public Works is seeking an Assistant Division Manager - Planning & Programming to assist the Engineering Manager in planning, overseeing and administering specialized engineering projects.
The typical starting salary range will be $90,022 - $108,035 annually depending on the candidates qualifications and experience as well as budgetary considerations. Examples of Duties
Essential Function Examples
Assist Manager in planning, organizing and managing the completion of daily operations of the County Division to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, County Department policies and procedures and goals and objectives.
Assist Manager with engineering programs. Requires strong background in Asset Management, prioritizing needs, and programming projects to best utilize available budget to address those needs while maximizing funding source potential through researching grant opportunities and ensuring competitive grant writing.
Assist Manager in developing and monitoring the County Division's budget.
Assist Manager in planning, organizing, administering, reviewing and evaluating the work of subordinate professional, technical, office support and operational staff through subordinate levels of supervision, ensuring timely completion of division goals and objectives and making recommendations on hiring, termination, promotion and discipline as required.
Represent the County Division and Department in meetings with other County Departments, divisions and a variety of public, business and community organizations.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicants education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.
The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicants earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.
The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
