divh2Assistant Director Special Education Compliance/h2pJob Goal: To assist the Director of Special Services in training and leading the Special Services Department to improve and enhance compliance practices to be in alignment with IDEA, as well as improve instructional practices./ppQualifications:/pulliCurrent Arizona Administrative Certificate/liliMasters Degree in related field/liliMinimum of five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in a multicultural setting preferred/liliDemonstrate an understanding of the psycho-educational evaluation process and eligibility criteria for determining eligibility for Special Education/liliSupervisory experience/liliDemonstrates an understanding of the IDEA/ADE Individual Education Plan (IEP) requirements/compliance/liliEvidence of current legal issues pertaining to Special Education and IDEA/liliDemonstrates successful collaboration with students, teachers, and parents/liliEvidence of experience in working with diverse student populations/liliEvidence of advocacy in the area of Special Education/liliDemonstrates adult coaching skills/liliEvidence of being a life-long learner/liliDemonstrates ability to provide instructional leadership/liliDemonstrates ability to assess student learning/liliDemonstrates ability to prioritize school issues/liliDemonstrates ability to solve problems/liliDemonstrates ability to communicate in oral and written form/liliSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable./li/ulpPerformance Responsibilities:/pulliAssists Director of Special Services to ensure compliance and support throughout the district./liliAssists Director of Special Services in establishing goals based on student achievement data and implementing strategies, which will support multiple assessments of students growth./liliMonitors Individual Education Plan (IEP) paperwork for placement options of Special Education students throughout the district./liliEnsures IDEA legal documents are submitted and comply with state and federal requirements./liliEnsures the creation of complaint Individual Education Plans for assigned service management students./liliTrains and monitors performance of specialists and classroom teachers to ensure legal compliance of Special Education paperwork./liliProvides regular school status reports centered on the IDEA compliance process to the Director of Special Services./liliSupports the special education legal compliance process by reviewing psycho-educational evaluation reports, IEPs, and progress reports for feedback and continuous growth within our department./liliHelps establish an expectation that all staff will create an environment that values and supports student success./liliAssists Director of Special Services in addressing parent/community concerns in an expedient and professional manner./liliParticipates in community, school, and District meetings as appropriate or assigned./liliWorks with District departments to support throughout the district./liliAssists Director of Special Services in establishing a leadership model that promotes participation of teachers, parents, and support staff in school improvement strategies./liliModels for students, staff, and colleagues the success that comes from being a life-long learner through the process of professional growth./liliPerforms other job-related duties as assigned./li/ulpKnowledge and Skills:/pulliKnowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures./liliKnowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures./li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/ppMedium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
