Overview:

Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Student Accessibility to join a collaborative and student-centered team committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment for all students. This role provides an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with disabilities and advancing equitable access across the University community.

The Assistant Director plays a key role in overseeing the administration and coordination of accessibility services for undergraduate and graduate students on Quinnipiac Universitys Mount Carmel Campus. Working closely with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners, the Assistant Director ensures that students disclosing disabilities receive appropriate academic, programmatic, and physical access accommodations in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA).

In addition to supporting students directly, the Assistant Director serves as an important campus resource by educating, training, and guiding University departments and programs in understanding disability access, inclusion, rights, and institutional responsibilities. The position also contributes to the continued enhancement of accessibility services through data collection, operational coordination, and the supervision of Accessibility Coordinator staff.

Responsibilities: Oversee the administration and coordination of accessibility services for the Mount Carmel campus including undergraduate and graduate programs through the Office of Student Accessibility

Provide guidance and supervision to Accessibility Coordinator staff and student workers on the Mount Carmel campus

Support the workflow of exam administration including space, scheduling and outreach

Serve as a resource to educate, train, and guide University programs in understanding disability access, rights and responsibilities

Collect and disseminate data for internal use using University systems

Implement and coordinate accessibility services, policies, and resources for Quinnipiac University programs as well as students and individuals with disabilities

Educate and advise Quinnipiac University faculty, administrators and staff about the issues, concerns, and appropriate accommodations for students and individuals with disabilities

Serve on campus committees and participates in departmental projects as directed

Provide guidance/assistance to campus programs in implementing accommodations to ensure access to classrooms, residential life, parking and dining services

Continue to address the issue of elevating the visibility and priority of disability services in coordination with OSA staff by using strategies including increasing outreach activities

Develop and maintain appropriate resources for students, faculty, and staff

Act as a liaison between the Office of Student Accessibility and Admissions, supporting admissions staff in responding to prospective student inquiries regarding accessibility services and ensuring appropriate representation at recruitment events

Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming first year students, responding to inquiries, providing resources, and facilitating related programming

Other duties as assigned Masters degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Disability Studies, or a related field Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible professional experience supporting accessibility, disability services, student support services, or related areas within higher education
  • Knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA)

Experience coordinating and implementing reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in an educational setting

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and student-centered environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage sensitive information confidentially, and navigate complex student situations with professionalism and empathy
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience collaborating effectively with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners
  • Supervisory or staff leadership experience
  • Ability to analyze data, maintain accurate records, and support assessment and reporting initiatives
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working within a college or university accessibility/disability services office

Familiarity with assistive technology, accessibility software, and accommodation management systems
