Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Programming and Leadership is a full-time, live-in professional staff member responsible for supporting student success and retention through residential programming, staff leadership, and daily residence hall operations. This position supervises professional Residence Directors, oversees student leadership development and engagement initiatives, ensures safe and well-managed living environments, and serves as a key resource for students, families, and campus partners. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in fostering inclusive, educational, and supportive residential communities while upholding university policies and responding to student needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in Residence Life, Housing, or a closely related higher education setting
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and assessing programs and events that support student engagement, retention, or leadership development
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, including experience working effectively with communities of color and diverse student populations
  • Experience serving as an advisor to a student organization
  • Experience with student conduct processes, crisis response, or on-call responsibilities
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated experience supervising graduate-level or professional staff
  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and campus partners
  • Experience working with or advising residence hall governance, student leadership councils, or similar residential organizations

The starting salary for this position is $54,983.00, based on the SCUPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This position may be eligible for a flexible hybrid work arrangement, permitting a combination of on-site and remote work, subject to applicable organizational policies, operational requirements, and supervisory approval.
