This is a full-time(Executive/Senior Level Officials & Managers and Professionals) position with the Citys Public Works Department. An individual in this position will be responsible for coordinating, managing and directing the activities of the Streets and Drainage Division, Traffic Operations, and any other Divisions within Public Works that may be assigned by the Director of Public Works.
Reporting relationship: Director of Public Works.
Examples of Work Develop, plan and implement the Departments goals and objectives; recommend and administer policies and procedures;Direct, oversee and participate in the development of work plans, projects and programs ;implement policies and procedures; and review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures;Oversee the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the Departmental budget; direct the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing ,equipment, materials and supplies; and implement adjustments as necessary;Oversee the preparation of the Capital Improvement budget; direct the forecast of additional funds needed to design, construct and implement projects as scheduled;Select ,train, motivate and evaluate personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; and work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures;Develop, review and present staff reports to City Council, City management and various boards and commissions;Manage, direct, and oversee the daily operations of the Streets and Drainage Division activities including: preventive maintenance, capital improvements, budgetary oversight and a policy implementation;Manage the Pavement Maintenance and Management Program (PMMP) including; condition assessment, planning, project prioritization, budgeting, and coordination of pavement maintenance and rehabilitation efforts.Manage, direct, and oversee the daily operations of the Traffic Division including: preventive maintenance, new purchases, budgetary oversight and policy implementation;Maintain department ordinances and requirements to the adopted standards and generally accepted engineering practices and provide engineering support services to the Director/City Engineer and other departments.Coordinate and oversee any other departmental programs or tasks at the direction of the Director of Public Works;Serve as part of the Emergency Management Team and respond to natural disasters and other emergency operations;Perform the duties of the Director of Public Works in the Director's absence;Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works;Subject to 24-hour recall.
Education, Experience, or Certification
Five(5)years of relevant professional experience are preferred. A Bachelors degree in civil engineering or a related field, from an accredited college or university and a Traffic Operations or a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)certification are preferred. Supplemental Information
