Maryville Integrated Care is the longest operating nonprofit substance use treatment agency in New Jersey and is recognized as a leader in the field of substance use and mental health treatment. For more than 76 years, their holistic, evidence-based approaches have helped bring hope, health and healing to those suffering from opioids, alcohol and other addictive substances.

The Assistant Director of Nursing provides leadership and day-to-day management of nursing services at Maryville's Pemberton campus and assists with oversight of nursing staff at Williamstown campus. This role ensures delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with state and federal regulations, the Nurse Practice Act, and Maryville policies. The Assistant DON supports the Director of Nursing in developing policies, supervising staff, and advancing Maryville's mission to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals in recovery.

  • Supervise and manage nursing staff at the Pemberton campus; assist with oversight of Williamstown nursing staff.
  • Participate in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, and retention of nursing staff in collaboration with the DON and HR.
  • Approve nursing schedules and timesheets; ensure compliance with staffing requirements with DON/HR.
  • Oversee medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and serve as Pharmacy Liaison across sites.
  • Ensure timely completion of nursing assessments (within 24 hours of admission) and coordination of comprehensive physical exams (within 24–48 hours).
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, health and safety standards, and medication handling/storage requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director and consulting physicians to coordinate patient medical services.
  • Monitor medical supply inventory and ensure proper storage, disposal, and recordkeeping.
  • Participate in treatment team, multidisciplinary, and Health & Safety Committee meetings.
  • Oversee CPR, First Aid, and emergency response readiness for Pemberton and Williamstown nursing staff.
  • Provide leadership during special events, staff training, and organizational initiatives.
  • Serve as back-up coverage for nursing units when needed. Able to respond within 30 minutes during operating hours.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required; ASN/ADN with extensive supervisory experience may be considered.
  • RN license is in good standing in New Jersey.
  • Must have at least 1 year of nursing supervision or nursing administration experience
  • Must have at least 1 year of full-time experience managing addictions in a licensed substance use disorder treatment facility
  • If the facility provides detoxification services, must also have:
    • Either 1 year of supervisory experience, OR
    • 3 years of experience in an opioid treatment or detoxification facility
  • Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience in addiction treatment or behavioral health required.
  • Experience in an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) setting a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (DOH, DAS, Nurse Practice Act).
