Job Duties
Plans, directs, and coordinates nursing activities in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
Manages and leads Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Nursing Assistants (CNA), Medical Records staff, and other assigned clinical staff.
Coordinates patient care with Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Dentists, Psychologists/Mental Health Clinicians, and security staff to ensure appropriate medical care for inmates.
Serves as relief for the Director of Nursing as needed.
Provides training to staff and delivers education to inmates on healthy lifestyles.
Assists in implementing and maintaining evidence‑based nursing procedures and guidelines for administrative and clinical functions.
Promotes a collaborative and efficient work environment focused on delivering high‑quality patient care.
Supports the mission of the VADOC Health Services Unit by promoting excellence in healthcare and the well‑being of individuals in custody.
Ensures responsible use of Commonwealth resources within the Health Services Unit.
Performs additional duties or assignments at other locations to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.
