Assistant Director of Human Resources
Pay: $70,000–$85,000 per year

Position Summary

Our well-established client is seeking an Assistant Director of Human Resources.  This role supports the strategic and operational functions of their Human Resources department. This role provides leadership and oversight of benefits administration, leave management programs, and HR technology initiatives, while supporting the integration and optimization of HRIS systems.

The Assistant Director works collaboratively with HR leadership to ensure HR programs and services are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with their organization's mission and values. This position plays a key role in enhancing the employee experience through effective benefits administration, data-driven HR processes, and technology improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits Administration & Employee Support
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, FSA/HSA, and wellness programs
  • Provide leadership and guidance on employee benefits inquiries, ensuring timely and supportive responses to employees and managers
  • Manage annual benefits enrollment and coordinate communication and education initiatives to support informed employee decisions
  • Monitor benefit plan utilization, compliance requirements, and vendor performance
Leave Management
  • Oversee the administration of employee leave programs, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, disability, workers' compensation coordination, and other protected leaves
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies related to employee leave
  • Partner with HR staff and leadership to support effective return-to-work planning and employee accommodations when appropriate
  • Implement and optimize leave management systems and processes
HRIS & HR Technology
  • Support the implementation, integration, and continuous improvement of HRIS systems and HR technology platforms
  • Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to improve data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and HR workflows
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to automate manual HR processes and improve operational efficiency
  • Support development of HR analytics and reporting related to workforce trends, benefits utilization, and HR operations
HR Operations & Leadership Support
  • Assist HR leadership in managing HR programs, policies, and initiatives
  • Provide guidance and support to HR staff on benefits, leave administration, and HR systems
  • Help ensure HR policies and practices comply with applicable employment laws and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in HR planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide direct support to the Director of Human Resources in managing employee relations matters, including responding to employee concerns, facilitating conflict resolution, and promoting a positive workplace environment
  • Assist in conducting thorough, timely, and objective investigations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable employment laws, and supporting appropriate follow-up actions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR supervisory experience, with demonstrated experience in benefits administration and HR operations
  • Experience with HRIS implementation or system integration
  • Knowledge of leave management programs, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave, and disability programs
  • Experience in healthcare, human services, or nonprofit organizations preferred
