Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related coaching experience

Experience as a graduate assistant or intern with a Division I strength & conditioning program.

Position Summary

Serve as the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance for assigned sports. This position is responsible for assisting with designing, implementing and monitoring sport specific weight training and conditioning programs. Provide instruction in proper lifting techniques, conditioning modalities, pre-habilitation techniques, and recovery methods. Monitor progress of athletes through computer charting and analysis of daily, monthly, and annual training for assigned sports and counsel.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Ability to program, implement and monitor sport specific weight training and conditioning programs for assigned sports.
  • Provide instruction in proper lifting techniques with an emphasis on Olympic lifting and FMS oriented pre-habilitation; monitor progress of athletes through computer charting and analysis of daily training; counsel athletes in performance enhancement.
  • Ability to communicate proficiently with individuals within and outside the University by telephone and email.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good organizational skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels.

Physical Demands

  • Stand; walk; use hands and reach with arms.
  • Sit and talk or hear.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and assist student athletes during weight training.
  • Close and distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can escalate high during peak times in the facility.

Duties/Responsibilities

Develop and facilitate weight training programs as well as conditioning drills for student athletes as needed or determined by the Director of Olympic Athletic Performance.

Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities

Teach proper form and technique in the various exercises and drills on a daily basis in coordination with each student athlete's individual training schedule.

Assist with supervising & maintenance of 16000 sq. ft. weight room, interns, graduate assistants and hourly staff.

Counsel athletes in dietary habits and assess body composition with help of available resources.

Maintain all equipment in the weight room on a daily basis.
