About Us:

The Assistant Director - Physician Assistant (PA) for Occupational Health Services provides leadership, clinical oversight, and strategic direction for the department. This role combines advanced clinical responsibilities with administrative and operational management to ensure high-quality care, compliance, and efficiency across all occupational health programs for employees and learners.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care for occupational health cases, including evaluations, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with Infection Prevention, Risk Management, and HR on health initiatives and case management.
  • Conduct pre-placement, return-to-work, fitness-for-duty, and periodic occupational health evaluations for employees, students, residents, and fellows
  • Provide clinical assessment and management of occupational exposures (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, respiratory pathogens, laboratory and chemical exposures)
  • Order diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans within scope of practice and institutional guidelines
  • Provide immunization services and vaccine counseling in accordance with Einstein, Montefiore, and public health requirements
  • Support medical surveillance programs, including TB screening, respirator clearance, vaccine compliance, and exposure monitoring.
  • Review and clear occupational health questionnaires and medical documentation for onboarding, rotation clearance, and ongoing compliance

Assistant Director Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational oversight for Occupational Health Services, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality service delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor clinical and administrative staff within the department, fostering professional development and team engagement.
  • Coordinate scheduling, resource allocation, and workload distribution to meet institutional needs.
  • Identify opportunities for program growth, innovation, and process improvement to enhance employee and learner health outcomes.
  • Assist in managing departmental budgets, monitoring expenditures, and supporting cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure compliance with fiscal policies and optimize resource utilization.
  • Oversee the creation, review, and enforcement of occupational health policies and protocols.
  • Ensure readiness for regulatory audits and accreditation surveys, serving as a liaison with compliance bodies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and prepare reports for leadership on program effectiveness, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Utilize data to inform decision-making and support continuous quality improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with at least 1 year in occupational health or related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare operations or program management.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, compliance requirements, and best practices in occupational health.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, analyze data, and implement strategic initiatives.
Minimum Salary Range: USD $138,000.00/Yr. Maximum Salary Range: USD $175,000.00/Yr.
