The Assistant Director provides career coaching services to BU Questrom School of Business full-time MBA students (and occasionally part-time students and alumni) through individual career coaching sessions, workshops, website and social media content and other innovative
programming, both on campus and virtually. The Assistant Director collaborates in the planning, development, and implementation of strategies to promote career development services and activities, coordinating with the school’s other career-related programming and
initiatives (i.e. Industry Relations Management team, MBA Learning Communities, Centers of Excellence, MBA programs including the Health Sector Management, Social Impact and Masters of Science in Digital Technology, Management Science programs, etc.)  
 
The Assistant Director will optimize seamless student support by tracking and communicating information through written notes and verbal conversations, documenting the details of student interactions/appointments and full-time MBA employment and internship outcomes. The Assistant Director will engage in professional development to stay abreast of best practices and developments in career education and share relevant information with colleagues and students. This position must be available for occasional flexible hours: early mornings, late afternoons, evenings, and weekends
 
60% Individual Career Coaching: 
 
• Serve as primary career coach to full-time MBA graduate students
 
• Hold coaching meetings, proactively following up with students to provide career support, tracking and communicating information through written notes and verbal conversations, documenting the details of student interactions/appointments
 
• Provide coaching and guidance to students on career assessment interpretation, short and long-term career strategy, internship and job search strategy, resume, LinkedIn profile, cover letter review, networking, relationship building and social media advice, interview preparation, negotiation and decision-making process support, onboarding coaching and internal (corporate) career development.
 
• Manage communications to students regarding career requirements and upcoming programming.
 
• Assist with the tracking and documentation of employment data and reporting aligned with accreditation and ranking requirements. 
 
 
20% Create and Deliver Career Management Classes and Workshops:
 
• Collaborate with MBA Career Coaching Team to deliver career curriculum and workshops to MBAs, tracking and boosting attendance and ensuring deliverables are met by deadlines
 
• Provide insights on how to enhance curriculum each year to stay up to date with market trends, align with student needs and expectations, and offer new career development resources and approaches which improve effectiveness of career education 
 
• Improve the delivery process of career coaching content in an efficient and effective way by evaluating, developing and integrating in-person and virtual delivery methods and digital resources into current services to respond to growing number of students and their changing learning habits.
 
 
20% Internal Collaborations & Administrative Work:          
 
• Partner actively with Industry Relations Managers to provide relevant, seamless and comprehensive career development support for students.     
 
• Meet with faculty and program directors to collaborate on career initiatives.
 
• Collaborate with academic advisors in the MBA Center to deliver launch programming.
 
• Participate in relevant professional organizations to stay abreast of best practices and industry benchmarks, as well as to reinforce the BU Questrom brand.         
 
• Pursue professional development opportunities to improve domain knowledge.
 


Required Skills
B.A./B.S. required; Master's Degree preferred. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Demonstrated ability to speak and present in a classroom environment. 4-6 years of experience in career counseling, education, or a relevant field. Some weekends and evening work will be required.
