Major/Essential Functions

Strategic Program Development & Marketing: Autonomously develop and execute comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies for Student Organizations and Student Involvement programs, utilizing expert knowledge of student engagement principles. Design, implement, and evaluate innovative training and support programs for student organization leaders, applying evidence-based practices in leadership development and local, state, and federal mandates surrounding risk management policies to continuously improve procedures. (25%)

Stakeholder Relations & Advisory Services: Serve as primary liaison and advisor for 600+ student organizations, providing expert guidance on registration, training, programming, and organizational development. Cultivate strategic partnerships with senior-level university partners and external stakeholders, adapting communication strategies to effectively influence student and professional audiences and facilitate collaborative relationships among organization leaders, members, and advisors. (20%)

Operational Management & Innovation: Oversee comprehensive management of undergraduate and graduate student assistants, including task assignments, coordination, and performance development. Maintain sophisticated data collection and reporting systems for Student Involvement metrics, provide specialized TechConnect & TechConnect+ training across campus, and identify process improvement opportunities to enhance program effectiveness.  (20%)

Program Leadership & Evaluation: Lead educational outreach initiatives to varying stakeholder groups and plan/execute the annual Student Organization Awards process. Apply advanced analytical skills to integrate institutional policies, resources, and best practices while developing alternative solutions and innovative approaches to complex student engagement challenges. (15%)

Independent Decision-Making & Problem-Solving: Exercise significant independent judgment on matters impacting Student Involvement programs and initiatives. Identify and resolve complex problems autonomously, apply variations of existing techniques and concepts, and make decisions that influence short-term departmental goals with measurable impact across the student affairs job family. (10%)

Leadership & Staff Development: Provide direct supervision to individual contributors in tactical and operational support roles, applying institutional policies in student and/or staff management and contributing to performance reviews. Mentor student staff in complex problem-solving processes while fostering a collaborative work environment that promotes student development principles. (10%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with student organizations, or other experience in higher education with 1:1 work with students.
  • Experience working with software platforms including but not limited to asynchronous training sites and other platforms for student success. 
  • Experience coordinating events or logistics involving multiple departments or large groups. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams in a professional administrative environment.

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Three years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
