Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in Library Science or a related program from an American Library Association accredited graduate school. A minimum of six years progressively responsible library experience is required.

This is a highly responsible executive-level position that directs the strategic, operational, and administrative activities of the Miami-Dade Public Library System. The incumbent leads and administers a broad range of complex departmental divisions, services, functions, and initiatives that are essential to the effective delivery of Library services to nearly three million residents of Miami-Dade County through 50 library locations, bookmobiles, and a robust online presence.

This position provides executive oversight of Legislative and Municipal Affairs, Special Collections, Real Estate Leases, and Strategic Planning and Initiatives. Responsibilities include establishing strategic priorities; developing short- and long-term goals; directing the implementation of departmental initiatives; resolving complex administrative, operational, and policy issues; and ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of services.

This position represents the Miami-Dade Public Library System and Miami-Dade County at meetings and presentations involving County and municipal officials, appointed boards and committees, the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library, community organizations, and the public. This position serves as a key member of the Librarys executive leadership team, providing strategic guidance on organizational priorities, intergovernmental relations, and systemwide initiatives.
