Job Summary Under administrative direction from the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success, the Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Success will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Athlete Success. This position will provide comprehensive academic support for teams as assigned, execute the program goals and objectives of the department, work with academically at-risk students from diverse backgrounds, and collaborate with coaches, support staff, and administration to simultaneously assure the programs success.

Job Description

  1. Support academic programs by providing learning skills, techniques, time management, and related academic information to students.
  2. Evaluate students academic abilities and skills, and assist students in developing academic plans.
  3. Implements new student orientation programs and advising activities.
  4. Coordinates advising functions by serving as a liaison between students, faculty, academic departments, and other campus services.
  5. Participate in the transfer and initial eligibility certification process for incoming student-athletes and assist with the continuing eligibility status for all student-athletes each semester.
  6. Assist in monitoring academic progress towards degree completion and NCAA eligibility.
  7. Contribute to data collection as it relates to the completion of the annual NCAA reports, such as Academic Progress Report, Graduation Success Rate, and other reports as needed.
  8. Coordinate efforts with coaches with respect to evaluation and learning assessment for prospective student-athletes in all sports programs.
  9. Serves as liaison for colleges and academic departments by interpreting academic policies, procedures, and curriculum issues.
  10. Provide timely and accurate mandated forms, reports, assessments, and audits as required.
  11. Contribute to NCAA and Northeast Conference waivers petitions and appeals in collaboration with the Faculty Athletics Representative or Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success, where appropriate.
  12. Assist with study hall programming for student-athletes, including tracking study hall requirements.
  13. May supervise and/or train other staff members or students.
  14. Other Duties as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education or related field
  • 2 years of experience working in athletics at the high school, college, or professional level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree
  • Prior experience at the NCAA Division I level

  1. Excellent organizational skills to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse community.
  3. Ability to effectively use computer application programs and related computer software packages, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, database, internet.
  4. Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA rules is a condition of employment in this position.
  5. Ability to work independently and complete assignments without direct supervision.
  6. Ability to set priorities and complete assignments accurately within designated timelines.
