Sarasota Bay Club is a prestigious retirement community located on Sarasota Bay. We have a prized opportunity for an Assistant Director of Food and Beverage! Overseeing a multifaceted fine dining operation, the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage is a key member of the leadership team who will ensure our residents and guests are delighted with a consistent fine dining experience. 

We are only seeking candidates with a superior knowledge of dining operations (front and back of house required). Must have at least two years working experience in a full service dining operation, leading and managing a team.

Primary Job Duties: 

  • Provides leadership, oversight and supervision of all dining and kitchen staff in the absence of the General Manager of Food and Beverage. Assures smooth daily operations.  
  • Maintains the standards of food preparation and service. Establish and model customer service standards.
  • Works closely with Food and Beverage Director and the Executive Chef, ensuring a smooth partnership between front of the house and back of the house.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure effective communication and successful coordination of numerous events (internal and external customers).
  • Participates in hiring, evaluating, counseling and termination of staff as appropriate. Provides input for employee performance appraisals in a timely manner. Provides training to ensure service standards are consistently met.
  • Partners with the Food and Beverage Director to create an annual budget. Budget and manage labor and supply costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all county and state health codes. Meet or exceed safety standards.
  • Address all questions and concerns regarding dining services immediately and communicate issues as needed with the Food and Beverage Director and or Executive Chef. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

High school diploma or GED; culinary training preferred. 

Required Experience: 

Previous fine dining experience and wine service knowledge required. Minimum of two years working experience in a full-service type of restaurant, country club, or hotel. Two of the two years must be in a hands-on managing or team leading position. Must have experience in recruiting, training, staff retention and evaluating all Dining Services positions.

Required Skills and Competencies

Expert knowledge of dining operations. Proven ability to lead, train and manage others. Ability to provide high customer service levels in a fast paced environment. Effective communicator and collaborator. Excellent telephone skills and professional manner. Must possess math and problem solving abilities. Good computer skills and knowledge of point of sales systems. Experience with financial records and statements. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Must be able to work as needed, including holidays and weekends.
