Position Summary:

The Assistant Director, Campus Engagement supports the Associate Director of Campus Engagement and provides assistance to all Campus Engagement team members. As an integral member of the team, this role supports career and admissions related partnership programs and initiatives, including: annual Networking Night, Vanderbilt & You admitted student events, Opening Dores student networking events, alumni career webinars and in-person programming. Additional event support includes student-alumni and student giving programming, such as: Vanderbilt for Life senior series, Seniors Give Back programming, and Legends Tour.

Responsibilities include coordinating event logistics, volunteer research, tracking, preparing and maintaining data, assisting with volunteer management, event support, and general administrative needs.

The Department of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) assists Vanderbilt University in securing the resources, both human and financial, that are required to achieve its mission and goals. The Department is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitable objectives are consistent with those of Vanderbilt University's teaching and research programs. Key Functions and Expected Performance:

  • Assist with event preparation (logistics, reports, collateral, nametags, and vendor communication).

  • Work with Anchor Events team on creation of email invitations and event registration.

  • Assist with onsite event set-up and execution.

  • Help monitor and manage LinkedIn Alumni Group and job postings.

  • Assist with stewarding relationship with Career Coaches, including webinar scheduling, bio updates, and webinar/event planning.

  • Conduct volunteer discovery research to activate programming purposes.

  • Work with the Anchor Events team for post-event survey needs; collect and help analyze feedback.

  • Assist with after-action event analysis for continuous innovation and increased impact.

  • Assist with data requests, reports, and workflows related to event attendance and campus partnerships.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Relationships:

This position does not have supervisory responsibility; this position reports administratively and functionally to the Associate Director, Campus Engagement with dotted line to the Associate Director, Student and Alumni Engagement, Traditions, and New Grads; and Associate Director, Student Philanthropy.

Work Environment:

This position will be located in the Nashville, TN area. It will a hybrid position with the expectation of being in the office one day per week, or more depending on business needs.

Education and Certificates:

  • Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, is necessary.

Experience and Skills:

  • Two years of experience, or the equivalent, is necessary.
  • Experience working with volunteers is preferred.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Proven experience with managing multiple projects and working within timelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Some evening/weekend work as needed.
