Assistant Deputy Commissioner Bank & Credit Unions (Hybrid)

Starting Salary Range: $116,750 - $130,000

The State Corporation Commissions (SCC Bureau of Financial Institutions (BFI) seeks a talented and experienced people leader for an Assistant Deputy Commissioner over its bank and credit union examination areas. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner of Depository Financial Institutions, the selected candidate for this position will plan, organize, direct, and review the work of the bank and credit union supervisory areas.

Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Directly managing and supervising managers of examination

Overseeing the scheduling of depository examinations to ensure statutory requirements are met

Recommending and implementing policies and procedures based on new and existing statutes, regulations, administrative policies, and industry developments

Providing recommendations and technical support to the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner

Attending meetings with or on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner or Commissioner

Participating in strategic planning, succession planning, and the recruitment of new staff

Developing and implementing systems and methods for monitoring work and performance of staff

Participating in the rulemaking process; reviewing proposed legislation and providing input; and participating in the implementation of new laws and regulations

Reviewing examination reports and responses to reports

Drafting internal and external memos, letters, and emails

Reviewing and assisting with difficult or elevated consumer complaints relating to depository institutions

Corresponding and communicating with Bureau staff and state and federal agencies about regulatory requirements and other depository supervision matters

Reviewing and approving the monthly reconciliation statements for the sections travel credit cards

Traveling to financial institutions for meetings or for professional development, up to 15% of the time

Performing related work as required

The Assistant Deputy Commissioner position offers a hybrid work schedule (some in-office and telework days each week) as well as a variety of professional development and training opportunities.
