    Job Summary

    The Assistant Deli Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the deli department. This position assists with driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining food safety and quality standards, and leading department associates. The Assistant Deli Manager assumes department leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Deli Manager.

    Key Responsibilities Department Operations

    • Assist in managing daily deli department operations to ensure efficient and effective execution.
    • Ensure products are prepared, stored, displayed, and rotated according to company standards.
    • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and merchandising.
    • Support production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing shrink and waste.
    • Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards.

    Customer Service

    • Provide outstanding customer service and create a positive shopping experience.
    • Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests promptly and professionally.
    • Promote deli products through suggestive selling and product knowledge.
    • Ensure service counters are staffed and operating efficiently.

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Assist with recruiting, training, coaching, and developing deli associates.
    • Help create work schedules and manage daily labor allocation.
    • Foster a positive and productive work environment focused on teamwork and accountability.
    • Support performance management and associate engagement initiatives.

    Food Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
    • Maintain proper food handling, storage, temperature monitoring, and cleaning procedures.
    • Ensure associates follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
    • Complete required food safety and operational documentation accurately.

    Financial Performance

    • Assist in achieving department sales, labor, and profitability goals.
    • Monitor shrink, spoilage, and waste while implementing corrective actions when necessary.
    • Support promotional and seasonal merchandising programs to maximize sales opportunities.
    • Help maintain inventory accuracy and cost controls.
