This is a full-time position.

Under supervision of the Head Football Coach, provide assistance in various aspects of coaching, recruiting, and administrative duties for a nationally competitive Division III football program.  Individual reports to the Head Football Coach as well as to the Deputy AD (or designee) with secondary duty to be assigned. CPR, AED, and First-Aid certifications will be required once hired.    

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in organizing, preparing, and conducting practices, training, and competitions;
  • Recruit student-athletes in accordance with all Centre College, Southern Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations;
  • Provide assistance in the administration of the football program, as required;
  • Represent the Centre Football to various institutions, students, parents, and the general public;
  • Ability to follow and enforce safety procedures;
  • Assist with the holistic development of football student-athletes;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents on and off campus;
  • Actively participate in department-wide fundraising initiatives;
  • Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff from all social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach, the Director of Athletics, or a designee.
  • Secondary duty to be assigned at a later date;

Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with previous collegiate experience as a player or a coach;
  • CPR, AED, and First-Aid certifications will be required once hired;
  • Valid driver’s license required. 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and coaching skills of the sport of football and its playing rules; a commitment to the Division III philosophy;
  • Knowledge of NCAA and SAA rules; and a demonstrated ability to recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes are essential. 
  • Additional qualifications include communication skills that allow for the ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively as well as being self-motivated, positive, energetic, eager to teach, and a willingness to travel. 
  • Ability to foster a team environment as well as the ability and desire to work successfully within a team-oriented athletic department is essential. Knowledge of travel planning and scheduling. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Moderate physical activity.  Requires handling up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing and or walking for more than four hours per day.
  • Ability to drive a car. 
  • Visual acuity to view a screen.
  • Work, as appropriate, nights and weekends.
