Position Summary:
PRWC, Inc. is seeking a reliable and organized full-time Assistant Curator to support daily animal care operations and facility management. This position ensures the safe and effective care of our resident wildlife, supports volunteers, and helps maintain a clean and well-operated facility. The Assistant Curator must be able to work independently and ensure a staff member is always present on-site during operational hours.
Key Responsibilities
· Open and prepare the resident care office and facility for daily operations.
· Ensure habitats are unlocked, set up, and ready for animal care activities.
· Support and guide volunteers in daily care tasks and procedures.
· Assist with feeding, habitat maintenance, and general animal care.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces and animal areas.
· Monitor facility conditions including caging, temperature, and safety.
· Ensure compliance with organizational procedures and animal care standards.
· Remain on-site while on duty to ensure continuous staff coverage.
Qualifications
· Experience working with wildlife, animals, or in a zoological or rehabilitation setting preferred.
· Ability to work independently and responsibly in a dynamic environment.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical tasks in all weathers.
· Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
· Continuation of education for themselves in all aspects of the job.
This is a full-time position. Must be willing to work holidays and weekends.
Work Environment This full-time position involves hands-on work with animals including birds, reptiles and mammals and requires physical activity including lifting, cleaning, and working in outdoor environments.
