Job Details

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations including month-end close, balance sheet reviews, and financial statement preparation
  • Maintain oversight of the general ledger and overall financial reporting environment
  • Review and approve journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
  • Support the design, documentation, and testing of internal controls (SOX environment)
  • Oversee preparation and submission of quarterly and annual Statutory filings
  • Coordinate annual Statutory and GAAP audits, acting as key liaison to external auditors and regulators
  • Research complex accounting issues related to Statutory accounting principles and US GAAP within insurance
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and executive reporting
  • Support regulatory inquiries, capital adequacy assessments, and rating agency requests
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff including temporary staff and interns
  • Promote a culture of accountability, process improvement, and professional development

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years accounting experience including 5+ years in Property & Casualty insurance
  • Strong knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and US GAAP in an insurance environment
  • Experience working in SOX-compliant environments
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Proven leadership and ability to operate in a deadline-driven regulatory environment
