Our client in Daytona Beach is seeking a contract to hire (also open to direct hire) hands-on Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations, manage the financial close process, and drive process improvements within a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. This hybrid role partners closely with senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & Reporting
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
Oversee journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis
Improve close timelines while maintaining accuracy
Accounting Operations
Manage general ledger activity across multiple entities
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies
Review complex transactions and strengthen internal controls
Oversee cash management and treasury activities
Audit & Compliance
Act as primary contact for external audits
Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
Support audit requests, filings, and compliance requirements
Process Improvement
Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable processes
Drive automation and system improvements
Support ERP enhancements and process redesign initiatives
Qualifications
Required:
Active CPA
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of accounting experience
Strong GAAP knowledge
Multi-entity and multi-state experience
Advanced Excel skills
Preferred:
Public accounting background
Private equity experience
M&A, integrations, or consolidations exposure
NetSuite experience
Salary range:
$130-150K
