    Description

    As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is seeking a highly energetic, and ambitious professional to serve as a part-time Assistant Competitive Cheerleading Coach who will support our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by embarking upon providing leadership, management, and strategic planning for the cheerleading program. The Assistant Cheer Coach will report to the Head Cheerleading Coach.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies. 
    • Support the academic success of all student-athletes and demonstrate a strong commitment to their personal and professional development 
    • Assist in the planning, management, evaluation, operation, and coordination of all aspects of the Cheerleading program,  
    • Supervise and organize practice sessions, game-day coaching operations, scheduling, and team travel 
    • Maintain proper and appropriate discipline among students during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off campus 
    • Actively recruit prospective students of the highest quality in order to contribute to the program’s success 
    • Engage in team fundraising activities and alumni engagement events 
    • Take advantage of professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as further success of the Cheerleading Program.  Attend campus, conference, regional, and national meetings as necessary 
    • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Marian University, Crossroads Athletic Conference, and the NAIA policies and procedures 

     Required Qualifications:

    • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree 
    • 3-5 years coaching experience preferred 
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license 
    • Must have experience in hiring, supervising, and training support staff and developing schedules to assure all work and work areas are covered 
    • Must display excellent customer and staff relation skills 
    • Must possess strong organization skills 
    • Must possess Stunt, CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications 
    • CDC Concussion Standards certification preferred
