Description of Position
The position of Assistant Athletic Coach is an 'at-will' position. As an 'at-will' employee, Yavapai College may terminate employment at any time and for any lawful reason. Since this position serves at the pleasure of the Head Coach and should thatposition become vacant or the Head Coach replaced, this position may be ending at the same time.

Start Date: July 1
Work Months: July-November, February-May
Non-Work Months: December, January, June
The Assistant Athletic Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for assisting the Head Athletic Coach with student athletes participating in College sponsored intercollegiate athletic teams and supporting the mission of Yavapai College Athletics.
- Prepares and executes a practice plan with specific guidelines to be followed

- Participates in recruiting efforts

- Coordinates and maintains playing field/court

- Assists in Game Day management and execution of responsibilities on the field/court

- Everyday responsibilities: answering phone calls, player relations, scheduling and summer camp coordination
- Assists with student development and student athletes' academic progress and eligibility
-Develops training/conditioning programs for individual athletes and monitors their progress
-Prepares, collects, and distributes information about the College athletic program to compliance organizations, administration, faculty, staff, and the general public while maintaining confidentiality of student athlete records

-Support with the logistics, promotion, hosting, including attending and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders for the fundraising initiatives of the department

-Assist with coordination and operation of camps that contribute to raise funds for the program every year
-Participates in activities that contribute to the overall understanding of the athletic program/department
- Might include advising and recruitment

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Experience in coaching/training athletics and/or mentoring student athletes
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Driver's License with the ability to demonstrate an acceptable driving record
- Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties
Preferred Skills & Abilities

- Master's degree from an accredited institution in related field
- Assistant coaching experience in area of interest
- Experience working in a collegiate athletic program
- Familiarity of the NJCAA
- Work experience in higher education/college environment

LEAVE BENEFITS
  • Vacation : 10 days of Vacation leave annually. NOTE: For employees who work an amount of contractual days, there will be no earned vacation.

  • Personal Leave: Use of up to three personal leave days per year which are charged against accumulated sick leave to take care of items of personal business

  • Spanish Interpreter Incentive Program: Employees interested in additional compensation for their Spanish speaking skills agree to assist YC by attending two recruiting events and being available for Spanish Interpretation needs as they arise. Compensation is added to the employee's regular pay at the rate of $175 per month.
