This position is not eligible for medical, dental, vision, life , or long-term disability insurance. Sick leave is accrued at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked in accordance with Washington state law.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
Previous training and/or experience in coaching appropriate sport preferred

Must possess valid First Aid and CPR cards and demonstrate a willingness to maintain current cards and coaching clock hours standards

Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, parents, coaches

Demonstrated ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures

Demonstrated positive attitude in working with youth

Possess understanding of the rules and regulations regarding his/her sport as prescribed in the WIAA Handbook, League Standard Operating Procedures, and Kelso School District Policy

Must be at least 19 years of age per WIAA requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in the development of the athletic program as directed by the head coach

Assume those duties as assigned by the head coach and assist the head coach with organizational matters; before, during and after the season

Assist the head coach with supervisory responsibilities

Communicate openly and immediately any individual/team concerns to the head coach

Assume the responsibility of the position of head coach in the event of the head coach's absence as designated by the head coach

Obey all the rules of conduct before players and the public as expected of a head coach

Treat all injuries with discretion, administering first aid when deemed necessary and filing accident reports when applicable

Be supportive of recommended disciplinary action of the head coach as outlined in the Student Athletic Handbook

Adhere to Kelso School District policies and administrative regulations

Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of proper training/injury precautions

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities

Assist in the care, storage, inventory and ordering of equipment

Keep abreast of new knowledge, ideas, and techniques relating to his/her sport

Have regular, consistent attendance

Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies

Perform other related duties as may be assigned

OTHER FUNCTIONS
Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Per agreement between the Kelso School District and the Kelso Extra-Curricular Association
