DescriptionAssistant Coach or Sponsor for High School athletics or activities in the North Kansas City School District.Job GoalTo help each participating student achieve a high level of skill an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.QualificationsValid Missouri teacher or substitute certificate issued through DESEPreferred previous coaching experience in assigned sportPossession of the knowledge skills abilities and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptableSalaryStipend amount to be determined pending CTTN negotiations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists in the coaching of individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.Assists in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.Works closely with the athletic director and Head Coach in scheduling interscholastic contests.Recommends purchase of equipment supplies and uniforms as appropriate.Maintains necessary attendance forms insurance records and similar paperwork.Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach&rsquos sport.Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.Assists in organizing and supervising a total sports program.Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.Complies with all district rules regulations and policies.Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.Other duties as required or assigned.
