General Summary

Indiana Tech is seeking a throws coach for its track and field program. This position can be either a Graduate Assistant position that comes with a full tuition waiver and part-time hourly pay or a part-time hourly position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The coach will coordinate all activities related to running the throwing events, including:

  • Assist with planning and conducting daily practices
  • Travel with the team to competitions and assist with meet-day coaching duties
  • Assist in fundraising and general promotion /track & field program
  • Maintain gear and equipment inventory and assist with ordering equipment and apparel
  • Any other duties assigned by the head or assistant coaches
  • Recruiting throwing events.
  • Will work closely with the coaching staff and especially the student-athletes.
  • Support a philosophy of community service
  • Support the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Indiana Tech
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, and Athletic Director

Measures of Accomplishment

  • As determined through the establishment of goals and objectives with the Head Coach

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • If applying for the G.A. position must receive admission to an Indiana Tech graduate program.

Experience

  • Experience coaching/competing in throwing events

Working Conditions

  • Nights and weekends required
  • Overtime hours required in season
  • Travel for competitions and recruiting required
  • Must be able to execute basic fundamentals of the sport
  • Estimated 20 hours per week
