Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Virtual Design & Data Solutions Assistant Civil Engineering Technician to support the development of high-quality engineering deliverables for complex infrastructure projects. This role performs technical tasks under close supervision, applying advanced civil engineering knowledge to create and modify site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts. The position utilizes industry-standard design tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation to produce accurate and efficient project deliverables.

 

Job Description

  • Provides technical support to engineering teams under close supervision
  • Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to assist with the creation, modification, and maintenance of technical documents, drawings, and project deliverables
  • Participates in the evaluation of methods used in the development of deliverables and design activities to support continuous improvement and efficiency
  • Continuously learns and applies established standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guidelines, and BV policies and procedures
  • Ensures deliverables are accurate and compliant by developing knowledge of the Quality Program
  • Demonstrates strong personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management initiatives
  • Expands technical knowledge to modify and develop less complex deliverables using various design inputs
  • May assist with minor technical tasks, such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
  • May assist with coordination of deliverables with other project disciplines to reduce errors and interferences
  • Prioritizes internal client needs while developing a basic understanding of external client drivers and expectations
  • Proactively seeks out and shares knowledge of emerging technologies and processes

 

Skills Required

  • Typically a minimum of 1 year related work experience.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Proficiency with digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Diploma or Certificate required. 
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
