Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $150,000 – $155,000 annually
  • Full-time executive leadership role with a stable daytime schedule

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) – Behavioral Health to support executive nursing leadership within a large acute care setting. This role partners closely with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and high-quality, patient-centered care across behavioral health services.

Job Summary:

The ACNO – Behavioral Health plays a key leadership role in promoting clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and staff development. This position supports executive decision-making, strategic planning, and resource management while maintaining oversight of designated patient care areas and key initiatives. The role focuses on fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Quality & Patient Care

  • Assist in developing and implementing policies aligned with regulatory and professional standards
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
  • Conduct leadership rounding with patients, staff, and physicians
  • Ensure timely resolution of patient concerns and incident reports
  • Identify system gaps and implement corrective actions

Service Excellence

  • Promote a patient-first culture and exceptional care experience
  • Support service recovery and patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Drive strategies to improve patient engagement and outcomes
  • Foster a professional, ethical, and supportive care environment

Leadership & People Development

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to nursing staff
  • Promote staff engagement, accountability, and professional growth
  • Support onboarding, education, and training initiatives
  • Collaborate with educators to address competency and development needs
  • Build strong relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams

Operations & Collaboration

  • Oversee assigned patient care areas and special projects
  • Partner with departments to improve workflows and care delivery
  • Participate in cross-functional performance improvement initiatives
  • Maintain effective communication across all organizational levels

Financial Management

  • Assist in budget development and cost management
  • Optimize staffing and resource allocation
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality care

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (Required)

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of supervisory nursing leadership experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of inpatient behavioral health leadership experience
  • Current role at Unit Director level or higher preferred

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (or compact license)
